What we know we know What is Destiny 2? Destiny 2 will follow on as a direct sequel from the original Destiny. A Cabal attack on the Last City by the new leader Ghaul has left everything in ruins, forcing the Guardians to take up yet an even more dire fight for survival. According to developers, the sequel will be more of everything that hardcore fans loved about the first game while also being more accessible to new players. Among the new content are raids, cooperative strikes, Nightfall strikes, weapons, planets, additional Guardian subclasses, and multiplayer options. Will our Guardians carry over to Destiny 2? Any quantifiable progress players made with their Guardians will be reset in Destiny 2.

Reddit Destiny 2 has had a rough time of late, what with players discovering that late-game grinding may very well be a gigantic waste of time , and the general hostility to microtransactions going around these days. Since its launch on PC in October, players have also groused about its strict communication rules: I love that about it.
I never played the first Destiny, so jumping in this year on PC I was struck by how the game looks like a series of sci-fi paperback novel covers, as if some s editions of Isaac Asimov or Robert Heinlein had been brought to life. Exploring the gorgeous environments of Io and Nessus as a solitary, somber, and silent experience feels right to me. You can join a clan, run a few patrols with someone, and then add them to your friends list.
One of you can initiate voice communication, and if the other player consents you can start chatting away. These activities are designed to be completed by teams working and talking with each other, so why the all the hurdles to voice chat? To my mind, the chat system serves two important purposes. First and foremost, it means you must have an actual reason for teaming up with anyone else. Imagine the horror of trying to get six random Plunkbatters to coordinate with each other at any level beyond howling insults.
Why is the perfect place for Destiny 2 on PC
Gonna be trying to do some strikes tomorrow, if any dudes are up for it. If that doesn’t work , try doing a hard reset. I’ve tried multiple times to get a team in regular heroic strikes , but it keeps putting me in the game by myself. Anyone else having this problem. While the chances of Destiny having matchmaking for Raids is still slim to none, Bungie explains why they went with this design decision in the first place.
I don’t understand why everyone is so against raid matchmaking. If you don’t like, don’t use it. If someone wants to use the feature then let them try it. It has zero effect on your experience. The thing about it is that if the raid has mm then when someone on your team quits Then someone new would probably be assigned to your fire team before you can get someone, or the same person, into your fire team.
A person you want, not a randomly assigned person. It is quite frequent that a team can loose a member for a minute due to a random error and will wait for that player to rejoin. Imagine the frustration of getting to the final raid encounter, getting one disconnection and by the time the servers have sorted themselves out your place has been taken by someone else and you get matchmade to a group starting fresh.
Also, now that I think about it; how would Matchmaking work with the checkpoints? With strikes I often get thrown into a match in progress, on one occasion I was added as the boss died and was rewarded with the Last Word for literally nothing. The point of the checkpoints is to allow teams to take a break and come back later without loosing progress. If matchmaking is added then could you jump sections?
Be pushed back to the start?

Comments Shares Bungie pulled back the solar-resistant curtain on Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris in its first DLC livestream today, revealing semi-infinite spaces to fight, the future of Raids, and the return of one sorely missed playlist. There was a lot of stuff to take in from the hour-plus livestream which I’ve embedded below , so I’ve also written up the highlights.
Mercury and the Infinite Forest Curse of Osiris will add two big, all-new areas to the game:
· Destiny: Raids, Nightfall missions and new high-res images. Where Bungie were very careful about what exactly they wanted to reveal about raids, they still offered a reasonable chunk of information. Raids will features only up to 6 players, and this mode requires extreme communications. There’s no matchmaking; Bungie doesn’t want you to //Destiny-Raids-Nightfall-missions-and-new.
Tweet on Twitter It seems that regardless of player feedback, Bungie really wants you to play Destiny the way they want you to play. I feel like any time there’s something players figure out or do in the game, that was originally unintended by Bungie, they patch it to their liking. And then, if there’s something players really want, they simply ignore it. I know this is a blanket statement, and it’s probably a little exaggerated as past patches have done good for the game, but I honestly believe players are getting fed up with some of the changes Bungie implements.
I know I am at least. The latest move from Bungie, which will arrive in update 1. According to this week’s post , update 1. That means no more soloing for you. No more playing with just a friend.

Posted 01 August – Raids are Destiny’s endgame content, and are extremely difficult, six-player, missions that may take hours to complete. Bungie defended this decision saying they want raids to be a difficult but fun, sociable experience and wants to get player together So what do you think of this? Should Destiny have matchmaking for Raids or not? I am finding it really difficult to put my thoughts into words and explain them so here is a post on Bungie.
To be fair, a part of that was because the raid group was up to 40 players in the beginning, now it’s The initial result was what we expected, faster setup times pre-raid You see, raids used to be a HUGE deal. They took hours and hours to setup, and even longer to progress.
Many of us make use of simple at-home kits to learn more about ourselves and our ancestry. This was the initial plan with DNA kits on a commercial level. Users could find out the lineage, with many tracking that goal of Viking blood.

Comments Shares Activision has successfully filed a patent designed for use in multiplayer matchmaking systems. In short, it’s an idea to engender envy at teammates’ or opponents’ gear through the matchmaking algorithm itself. Here’s the abstract from the patent, granted today after its filing two years ago: The system may include a microtransaction arrange matches to influence game-related purchases. A junior player may wish to emulate the marquee player by obtaining weapons or other items used by the marquee player.
It has not been implemented in-game. It’s also not a reactionary move on Activison’s part, as the patent took two years to go through. Still, with resentment for loot boxes and microtransactions at an all-time high, the timing is unfortunate for the publisher. Here’s the bit on microtransaction matchmaking detailed later on: Similarly, the microtransaction engine may identify items to be promoted, identify marquee players that use those items, and match the marquee players with other players who do not use those items.
In this manner, the microtransaction engine may leverage the matchmaking abilities described herein to influence purchase decisions for game-related purchases. Or a scenario in which the game mode itself makes use of an item gained through microtransations where players without the item are paired with players that have the item so that they can vicariously bask in whatever benefit that item provides to that mode. It’s all fairly vague, speculative language. The idea is troubling for a few reasons.

In the sequel to Bungie’s popular shared-world shooter, the Guardians of Earth have finally met their match with a new villain who’s got his eyes on The Traveler. Our heroes, with their powers stripped away and all their gear destroyed, are pushed back to square one and have to relearn what it means to be a true Guardian of the Light. Though the general grind in Destiny 2 is the same as in the previous game, there are a number of major differences. During our extensive hands-on time before the launch of the game, we saw the many tweaks and additions coming to the game’s core pillars, and how different it’ll be compared to the years spent in the original Destiny. A More Directed and Focused Story In Destiny 1 , the story focused on re-establishing the influence of the Guardians, while battling the different enemy factions and dealing with the looming presence of the enigmatic force known as The Darkness.

Bungie has confirmed that the issue is there and that the long matchmaking times might cause the Mongoose error. The good thing about all this is that the developers know that the issue is there and they can work on releasing a patch that fixes the issue.
